Talking about her work the artist said "I always approach the canvas directly, without any preceding sketches or studies. I paint in the manner of Zen, moving my brushes along with my mind's rhythm, relying solely on instinct and intuition. Outside of conscious thought, I search for harmony and form in the play of color and shapes, and a composition gradually emerges. Then, feeling my way with my brush, I enter the painting and wander through its spaces and along its paths with a deep sense of belonging. I welcome the viewer to join me on the same journey, with the same sense of belonging, sharing in the belief that everything has a life of its own".

Regarding certain elements of her childhood which have led to some of her works inspirations she reminds: "I was born in Tokyo and in elementary school, I learned that the Japanese Constitution -- with its renunciation of war -- had been drawn up by Americans. From that point on I wanted someday to learn English and travel to the place that had now become -- in my mind -- the land of peace. After all, my grandmother's brother died in Hiroshima and I grew up listening to these terrible stories about the war. I was taught we shall never fight.”

The gallery continues to host renowned international and local artists with its full yearly calendar through 2014/15 in the prestigious Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates

December 2014 – Acclaimed Jordanian artist, Marwa Al Najjar, will be showcasing her work in her solo exhibition, titled “Monotone” - in Dubai throughout January 2015. Marwa’s art focuses on Human Nature, Form and the Environment in which they live in. In her paintings you will find a variety of characters portrayed in various forms and scenes such as figures, portraits, cityscapes and much more. Marwa’s artworks are presented in hues of silver and gold to add more depth, complementing the gazes intended to penetrate and reach out to the viewers in an interactive display according to movement and environment.

Marwa studied Art in Al Najah University, Nablus where she also worked as an Art Tutor two years, embarking on many projects including painting a church in Nablus; she later went on to work at Isra’a University Jordan.

Marwa’s current paintings highlight passivity, the dominant expression of the human nature. Emotion is made secondary throughout this exhibition and it is left for the viewers to determine according to their own experience. This exhibition features metal leaf in shades of gold, silver and copper for backgrounds and demonstrates a variance at the shedding of different lights, and viewing angles to reflect the numerous perspectives and the passing of the time. Experience Marwa’s unique work for yourself with her still figures, set against transient backgrounds, emphasizing the prevailing passive expression with the figures’ essence left intact at Fann-À-Porter Art Gallery this January.
Fann-À-Porter, which translates as “art-to-go”, launched its gallery space in Dubai earlier this year with the goal of bringing a host of international talent to display their collections on a monthly basis with a full year calendar in 2014/15. The gallery will be featuring international and local artists from the UAE, Jordan, France, Holland, Finland, Lebanon, Spain and Italy. The gallery also displays the work of talented designers alongside the gallery’s own collection of objects d’arts.

ضمن جدول أعماله الغني لهذا العام، افتتح معرض الفنون المعاصرة "فن آ بورتيه" معرضه الأول في 2015 مفتتحاً بالفنانة الأردنية مروى النجار وذلك في ردهة فندق "كمبنسكي" في مول الإمارات.
وتعتبر مروى النجار من أهم الفنانات العرب المعاصرات اللاتي يعملن على التشخيص التعبيري، وذلك من خلال ثيمات ومفردات شرقية وألوانها الخاصة جداً.
وتتنوع أعمال نجار في معرضها هذا، تحت عنوان "مونوتون" في مواضيعها بين الأشخاص والمدينة والمشاهد الضاجة بالحياة، إنما يربط بين جميع لوحاتها ألوانها الدافئة التي اعتمدت الذهبي والفضي بتدرجاتهما لتصنع من المساحات اللونية في تلك اللوحات امتداداً آخر لمحورها الرئيسي وتخلق حالة من الحركة الدائمة على جميع مسطحات المشهد.
يذكر أن مروى نجار أكملت دراستها الجامعية في نابلس، حيث عملت كمدرسة لمدة عامين بعدها، ولها العديد من المشاريع الكبيرة من أهمها رسمها لجداريات العديد من كنائس نابلس، كما عملت ا كمدرسة في جامعة الإسراء في الأردن.

ورغم ما يمكن أن توصف لوحات هذا المعرض بنزعاتها الفلسفية وميلها في تلك التجربة إلى السكون والسلبية إلا أن هنالك حراك داخلي واضح للعيان يضمن اتصالاً بصرياً مدهشاً وحميمية وتعاطفاً رغم ما يبدو على شخوصها من جمود.
إن الخامة المستخدمة على أسطح اللوحات كالأوراق المعدنية من الذهب والنحاس والفضة تقدم للمتلقي أحاسيساً أكثر عمقاً واتصالاً بدلالات متعددة وهو ما يميز لوحات مروى النجار من عمق نفسي فريد.

George Bassil says:
"One of the things that most inspires me and excites my imagination are the faces of people and all I can see through them. Art for me is where I see the world and people more beautiful than reality, where silence is the most beautiful thing and even noise can be softer. I personally re-create my stories through my paintings – if I encounter a dull time that lacks peace, I create the faces and tales on warm fabrics and colors in the mood of love – this brightens my world.”

Fann-À-Porter’s next exhibition will host the gifted Lebanese painter, George Bassil, from December 15, 2014 – Jan 4, 2015.
Born in Beirut in 1965, George Bassil is a self-educated painter whose artistic career started in Beirut in 1996. Inspired by the voices of Billie Holiday, Maria Callas, Um Kulthum amongst others, Bassil’s lyrical paintings of intimate encounters captivate viewers of all ages and taste. His work is noted for the powerful presence of his timid subjects, and daring, often controversial, depiction of individuals exposed nakedly and indifferent to the viewers’ curiosity.

Bassil’s use of colour, blinding and striking evokes a nostalgic sense of renaissance. The softness of the composition, the gaze of the figure and the color palette chosen creates a quite intimate scene. George Bassil’s paintings have a huge internationall following amongst art lovers and collectors and have been exhibited in Montreal, Monaco, Paris, Nice and London and in 1999, he received the bronze medal and a diploma of honor at the third Biennial of Plastic Art of Lattaquieh-Syria.

المعرض القادم في غاليري "فن-آ-بورتيه" يستضيف الفنان التشكيلي اللبناني، جورج باسيل، من 15 ديسمبر 2014 وحتى الأسبوع الأول من ينانير 2015. ولد جورج باسيل في بيروت عام 1965 وبدأت رحلته المهنية في الفن عام 1996 من هناك. يستمد باسيل إلهامه من أصوات العملاقة مثل أم كلثوم وبيلي هوليدي و ماريا كالاس وغيرهم ليقدم فن تعبيري راقي يحاكي عشاق الفن من مختلف الأعمار ويأسرهم برسوماته التي تعكس اللقاءات الإنسانية الحميمية. ينعكس حضوره الفني القوي في الوسط من خلال أعماله التي تتناول مواضيع تتسم بالجرئة وغالبا ما تكون مثيرة للجدل.
